Troop 337 Historian Report – January 2025

January 3rd – Broomfield FISH Service Project

There were four two-hour shifts at Broomfield FISH. Each shift started with a brief tour of the building by Mr. Lampo, and one of the highlights was a look at the cooking oil shelf Troop 337 adopted to help supply this organization. Broomfield FISH stands for Fellowship in Serving Humanity; they help people who are in need of basic things like food, shelter, and jobs, serving one million five hundred thousand pounds of food to people in need as of 2023 alone. Troop 337 helped sort food donations to lift the heavy weight of even more work off their hands. FISH was stocked almost completely full, and all the customers left happy.  It was a fun service project.  I learned that this great organization really helps people.  No one is turned away if they are hungry.  Thank you to everyone who helped support this community!

January 7th – Troop Meeting

Scouts who were going on the January campout prepared their meal plans, while all scouts got together in their re-organized patrols to select patrol names and have fun in a relay race.  The new patrol names are:  Amish Electricians, Banana Ducks, Flying Turtles, and Paw Patrol.

January 10th – 12th – January Campout & Ice Climbing Adventure, Camp Alexander

January’s campout was a cabin campout because it was COLD!  Scouts interested in ice climbing could choose day or night climbs.  This event looked like it was so much fun!

January 14th – Troop Meeting

This week, we tidied up Patrol boxes from the January campout and sharpened our knot tying skills.

January 28th – Troop Meeting

This week’s Troop meeting was at BUMC’s gym. Our scouts did a great job of remembering to be respectful, keeping out of the pew storage area while the church undergoes a renovation in the sanctuary. We focused on some fun Scouting Skills this week, rotating between skills stations.  The survival station was the most fun and the most helpful, but we also did rotations at first aid and knot tying stations.
