Troop 337 Historian Report – June 2025

June 3rd – Court of Honor and Eagle Court of Honor – Wallace McElroy

Our summer Court of Honor was held at Northmoor Park at the park shelter. We also celebrated the newest Eagle in our Troop, Wallace McElroy.  It rained and it was uncharacteristically cold for a summer Court of Honor, but it was still fun to celebrate our Scouts’ achievements.  We also helped Broomfield fish by restocking their shelves with a lot of cooking oil and more. They were very grateful.

June 8th – Relay Colorado Day at the Denver Zoo Service Project

This service project was an opportunity to bring community members together to collect resources/information for those who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, DeafBlind, and/or have Speech Disabilities.  We helped different merchants move their displays into the zoo. It was a fun project, and we got to tour the zoo afterward.

June 10th – Troop Meeting

This week’s meeting was a patrol box cleaning where we cleaned and organized the cook wear, and resupplied any other gear (soap, bleach, sponges, etc.) within the patrol boxes. This meeting also included a review of important summer camp details and standards.

June 14th – Conservation Service Project

Once we arrived at Camp Tumbleson, we cleared out fallen trees that were blown down during the winter season. We cleared up the area quite a bit. We used a wood chipper and a chainsaw to cut through trees and logs a lot easier. This service project fulfilled a conservation service project requirement for the Scouts working toward Life rank, but it was also a lot of fun!

June 22nd – 28th – Troop 337 Summer Camp

Chris Dobbins McNeil Scout Ranch at Peaceful Valley.

At this summer camp, the Scouts did a great job on all their badges, and from the looks of it they also had a lot of fun. They earned about 70 new badges total! On Wednesday, Scouts did not have any classes, so it was a free day. It rained for quite a bit that day, so Scouts really did not get the chance to do much in the afternoon, but it was still a really fun day. On all of the other days, the classes were a nice way to learn something new while having fun. At opening and closing flags, Scouts and staff also always got the chance to honor our country and sing some songs. Overall, it was a very fun and productive campout.
