May 6th – Troop Meeting

This week’s meeting was a straightening up of troop skills, including color guard and how it should be performed, uniform and appearance including what to wear and new enforcement rules, putting away chairs, and proper KP, and why it’s better to get it done quickly.

May 10th – Stamp Out Hunger Service Project

The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is a meaningful national initiative held annually on the second Saturday in May. This year, our Troop once again assisted by unloading donated food from U.S. Postal Service trucks – a vital step in helping those in need within our community. I’ve had the privilege of helping with this project for the past two years, and I can confidently say it’s one of the most impactful service opportunities we have all year.  See the media coverage our event got here:  9News Stamp Out Hunger

May 13th – Troop Meeting

Scouts got to enjoy a “fun night” playing kick ball and other outdoor sports. At the end, the sprinklers came on, and so the Scouts had to go back to the church. At least they got to enjoy some popsicles!

May 17th – BUMC Clean-Up Service Project

This was the first of four opportunities we will have this summer to do something nice for the organization that provides us with a place to meet, a place to store our gear, and a place to keep our trailers. During this project, we helped rake the small sticks and pinecones out of a large field to help keep the church look clean. We also pulled weeds and trimmed bushes along the path so that it looked a little bit nicer.

May 27th – Troop Meeting

At this week’s Troop meeting, Eli taught the EDGE method, which is a four-step teaching technique: Explain, Demonstrate, Guide, and Enable. Scouts also were given a presentation by Xander on packing for summer campouts, including summer camp. Finally, if Scouts were interested in being part of the Troop 337 Color Guard, they were encouraged to speak with Lance or Rishi at the beginning of this week’s meeting. Those interested in being part of the Color Guard broke off to be briefed on performing the Color Guard duties at our Troop Courts of Honor and Community Service opportunities. The Troop Scout Closet was open during the meeting.
