Troop 337 Historian Report – October 2025
October 3rd – 5th – Troop Campout – Pickle Gulch
This turned out to be a very exciting campout! Some Scouts spotted a moose in the middle of our campsite! Pretty intimidating, but also pretty cool. Scouts also helped a Cub Scout Pack unload all of their gear from their trailer to their campsite. There was also a very cold morning on Sunday, at a temperature of 16 degrees Fahrenheit!

October 7th – Troop Meeting
Scouts learned about efficient cooking skills for campouts.
If you were 13 and First Class, you had the option to sit in on a meeting about High Adventure. Overall, Scouts learned a lot about what it takes and what is involved in High Adventure, such as cooking skills and the will to adventure. High Adventure sounds like a lot of fun!
October 11th – Hank Fries Eagle Court of Honor BUMC Chapel – 11:00- 1:00
A lot of Scouts showed up to this Eagle Court of Honor. We got the chance to come celebrate Hank for completing the Eagle rank and recognize him for his time in the Troop. Good job, Hank! A lot of Scouts showed up for Hank because he takes care of the other Scouts and shows up to do the work. We really appreciate his support!

October 14th – Troop Meeting
The plan was for Scouts to complete an orienteering course around the church, but we ran out of time, so instead, we taught Scouts how to orienteer and helped them find their paces and also helped them figure out how to use a map and compass.
October 26th – Community Service Project – BUMC Trunk-or-Treat
Our Troop helped the Broomfield United Methodist Church with their annual Trunk-or-Treat event that happened on Sunday, October 26th. This was a fun way to give back to the community, as families from the neighborhood brought their kids by in costume to enjoy the festivities! We helped with set-up and tear-down, picked up litter, helped with the pumpkin launching station, and supervised the fire pits for making s’mores. Overall, I feel that both the Scouts and the families had a great time.

October 27th – Troop Meeting
Scouts worked on meal planning for the next campout, and afterwards they got to enjoy a fun evening of playing games.
