Scouts and Parents,

Wow! I have had the privilege of serving this community for four years The time has come for me to step aside and guide and enable another person to continue the wonderful Troop we have all built.

For years, I have told my Senior Patrol Leaders (SPL’s) there is life after SPL.  SPL is not the pinnacle of leadership in Scouting; nor is being Scoutmaster!  I tell the youth they should look at all levels of scouting to serve (District, Council, & National).

We still have two sons in Scouting, so I plan to be very active in the Troop and other areas of Scouting. With that, I wanted to share what my plans are for the next few years in Scouting:

  • Crew 337 Advisor:  Our Charter Org has approved and allowed me to move into the role of Crew Advisor.  I am excited for this new role and to be able to advise a co-ed program.
  • Troop 337 Special Awards: I will continue to report to the Committee Chair.  However, now I will assist in helping our scouts earn many of the specialized awards that are available; Conservation, Paul Bunyan, NOVA STEM, etc…  Being a Committee member will enable me to continue to help Scouts earn their Eagle, and to participate on Board of Reviews.  This work will be in collaboration with the Scoutmaster.
  • NYLT @ Big Horn: With a new role and helping Council with NYLT this year, I have been asked to serve on course for the next few years.  I will continue to work with our Troop in getting our youth engaged and participating in this wonderful Leadership training.  This will only help our Troop grow.
  • 2021 National Jamboree: Get your Scouts ready to travel to the National Jamboree in July of 2021.  Working with Council, I will assist in taking our Denver Area Contingent!  I am hoping to take as many scouts from our Troop as Possible!  Trip of a lifetime!
  • Wood Badge: This fall I have the great privilege to be SPL of a Wood Badge Course and will continue to participate and help the adult leaders of Denver Area and our own Troop achieve the highest honor of adult training.  I look forward to many of you joining me on future courses!

I am excited to continue the success of our Charter Org., Scouts, families, and our own boys!

Starting July 1st, Doug Brown will step in as interim Scoutmaster for the rest of the summer and as the Troop goes through the process of implementing a permanent Scoutmaster.  I am truly excited for Doug to step in.  The feedback I received from the Scouts around Doug has always been so positive and his demonstration of Servant Leadership does not go unnoticed.  I have urged Doug to put his hat into the ring for permanent Scoutmaster.

Thank you for being part of one of the most incredible rides of my life!  My heart is full, and I am excited to move into the next phase of life after Scoutmaster.
